CSU Faculty Newsletter from the Provost and Executive Vice President | Oct. 2025
October 13, 2025
Dear Colleagues:
This time of year always gives special meaning to the phrase Green & Gold our official school colors that represent hope and environmental health, our agricultural roots, scholarly creation, energy, and enduring knowledge. When fall arrives in Colorado and the foliage starts to change its colors to vibrant golds, yellows, and reds, many people have already been preparing for weeks to ready campus for the proud Green & Gold tradition of homecoming at Colorado State University.
I am grateful to all those across our institution who have worked tirelessly to create opportunities to warmly welcome home our alumni, celebrate our school spirit, and strengthen bonds among former and current students, faculty and staff, and our friends and partners. I hope you are able to enjoy some of the great activities scheduled on campus this week because this annual tradition is a wonderful time to celebrate community and a sense of belonging — something we all need in our personal and professional lives to remind us of the important work we do amid the challenges we face.
Below is the link to the October edition of the Faculty Newsletter. In it you will find academic announcements, updates from our colleges, and a selection of the latest news from across higher education. In addition, my opening letter talks about the important role emotions play in leadership, and a recent meeting I had with some of our faculty and staff on academic freedom and the tough and sometimes emotionally-anchored conversations they navigate in the classroom.
