Interfolio
What is Interfolio?
Interfolio is a Faculty Information System that supports faculty activity reporting, accreditation, faculty review, promotion and tenure workflows, and more. Interfolio is being implemented by the Provost’s Office to modernize, streamline, and improve faculty affairs processes.
Implementation at CSU
Phase One
Spring 2023: The College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) and the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) piloted the new workflow system for faculty annual evaluations, using Interfolio’s Review, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) and Dossier.
- Review, Promotion & Tenure (RPT): This module is used to conduct faculty evaluations including annual reviews, comprehensive reviews, promotion, and tenure through the collection of review materials and approval workflows.
- Dossier: All Interfolio users have access to a private online platform to collect scholarly materials, request and receive confidential letters of recommendations, and prepare materials for reviews.
Phase Two
December 2023 – February 2024: All users will gain access to Interfolio and the RPT module in December. The CSU implementation team is currently working with Interfolio to configure and activate Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR), which will be made accessible to all users in February.
- Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR): This module enables faculty to collect faculty activity data and materials through Interfolio’s Data Service and to generate CVs. Staff and administrators will be able to use FAR to pull reports for accreditation, program reviews, and more.
-
Faculty data that will be in Interfolio:
-
Faculty profile data auto-uploaded from University source systems.
-
Bibliographic data about faculty scholarship pulled via the Data Service integration with ORCID, Web of Science, PubMed, OpenAlex, and CrossRef.
-
*Data entered into Digital Measures after December 31 will need to be manually updated in Interfolio.
Phase Three
Spring 2024: All users will use the RPT workflow system for annual faculty evaluations and comprehensive reviews.
Summer 2024: Interfolio modules will be fully implemented. All departments will use FAR and RPT for reviews, promotion, and tenure.

Overview of User Roles in Interfolio
Institutional Administrators: administrators with University-level access in the Interfolio system. These administrators have access to all users and groups, templates, and cases across units.
Unit Administrators: unit administrators can exist at different levels, so there may be unit administrators at both the college and department levels. Users with Unit Administrator permissions are able to access documents, email candidates and committees, move cases forward or backward, create templates and forms, and can create cases for the units they have access to.
Committee Members: these users must be added to a committee to view a candidate’s packet and download documents on the cases that they have access to.
Committee Managers: these users have the same capabilities as a committee member and can also move cases backward or forward in the workflow (after the committee has finished reviewing it). They can email the candidate and committee members from within Interfolio and can record committee votes. In order to make a user a Committee Manager, a Unit Administrator must manually select them to serve this role.
Candidate: any user for whom a case has been opened in Interfolio — the faculty member being evaluated or reviewed.
